PATRIARCHAL SUCCESSION OF THE UNITED ROMAN-RUTHENIAN CHURCH
The Patriarchal
Succession of the United Roman-Ruthenian Church derives principally
from the Russian Orthodox Patriarchs of Moscow, the Syrian Patriarchs
of Bablylon, the Orthodox Patriarchs of America (Russian derivative),
the Greek Patriarchs of Jerusalem, and the Western Patriarchate of Rome. The Patriarchal succession, while
largely focused on office, regularly intertwines with the Church's Apostolic Succession. See also the Church's statement on canonical status and the temporal succession of the Church.
The patriarchate of the United Roman-Ruthenian Church, known as the
Catholicate of Rome-Ruthenia, and its patriarchal office, known as the
Pope-Catholicos of Rome-Ruthenia (one of the titles of the
Prince-Bishop), are not new, but a continuing derivative of the
principal patriarchal successors and part of the one original Church.
The United Roman-Ruthenian Church celebrates, maintains, and preserves
its heritage, but makes no claim to leadership of any other patriarchal
throne.
